Just in from the beach, Avarian and Sorlith placed the six new eggs into the basket that formerly held only one egg. The one egg now had companions, six more in fact. Luckily the basket had plenty of room for the eggs, and Vari made sure that the one egg she'd found before was easily identifiable from the others, as she rather expected it to hatch sooner... But since she was no expert on eggs, Vari really didn't have a clue, only that she'd had that one for a while now. She'd found it before the hatching, in fact.
The six new eggs safely nestled in the sand, Vari made a mental note to ask Amintia later if she'd like one or two. Sorlith took it upon herself to nose the new eggs about, moving them here and there like a gold 'lizard or dragon would do. For now, Vari picked up the first egg to examine it. She wasn't sure but it should be harder than when she found it right? It seemed like it was...

No. I will not have one of those annoying little things flying around. They are ridiculous. There is absolutely nothing of interest in those things Kosarth said both grumpily and stubbornly. They aren't that bad. . . Why are you following me? I thought you wouldn't want to see the eggs. I don't think their hatching quite yet, I"m just going to look/ Senra was rather surprised Kosarth was following her after all his complaining.
Senra just wanted to see the fire lizard eggs. She wouldn't mind Impressing one, especially a White as it would go nicely with Kosarth, though she doubted it would happen. Kosarth gave a greeting to Sorlith as they walked over. Mine says for me to tell you to tell Yours we are here to see the fire lizard eggs. Kosarth paused as Senra talked to him again. Mine also says we are sorry if we are being disrupting. We are here because I didn't want to go search for a clutch. Mine simply wants to see the eggs, but we can leave if we are disturbing you.

Just as Avarian neatly assembled her little basket of Eggs, a certain little oval began rocking unhappily. It twitched and shuddered, tapping against the shells of the eggs that had been placed so carefully next to it. For such a small egg, it was surprisingly strong and with one quick jerk it upheaved the whole basket, sending firelizard eggs spilling onto the floor. Luckily, none managed to crack open from their sudden contact with the floor...well, all except for the egg Vari had found playing at the lake with the titanium Weyrling A'dril.
It shattered open, spilling a very wet, very grumpy looking blue firelizard out onto the floor. He crooned in desperation, hungry and confused. He wasn't where his mother had laid him! Where was the sound of her croons?! What were the massive things looming over his head? One of them smelled like food. One of them smelled like they could feed him, like his mother could. Wait! Perhaps she was his mother!
Launching himself into the air, the Hatchling blue found his wings in working order. However, he was clumsy in the air and instead of landing neatly on her, he collided with [i[Vari's stomach, nearly knocking himself /between/. His eyes swirling in confusion, he clung onto Vari for dear life, begging her to make his head feel better and his stomach ache go away.
Type: Firelizard Color: Blue Impressed to: Avarian Age: Hatchling
Appearance: On the scrawny side of blues, this little guy will barely grow to the length of even the smallest of blue firelizards. He's also extremely skinny, with a narrow face and slightly elongated limbs. He looks a little awkward on the ground, but he's a fast and sure flier.
His hide is a bright, happy, robin's egg blue with splotches of darker blue running along his wing sails, back, and chest. On the very center of his forehead is a large dark blue splotch.
Personality: This firelizard has an extreme case of separation anxiety that he will never outgrow. If he isn't in eyesight of Vari for periods of time longer than an hour, he will assume she is dead or in trouble. This being said, he's a paranoid squealer and as soon as he perceives something to be a danger to himself or to his Vari, he will freak out and cause mayhem amongst dragons, humans, and firelizards alike. Everything is a danger to him, everything is out to get him. It'll take Turns of reassurances from his bonded to keep him from simply /betweening/ forever from sheer fright.

Kosarth snorted in disgust and backed away from the blue lizard. He was careful to stay away from the eggs on the floor. Senra, however, wondered if she should be helping pick up the eggs. She didn't want to get in the way, but she didn't want to leave them lying there either. Unsure what to do, she just stood there.

From her ledge, the mother of the Weyrlings idly turned her massive head towards the Weyrling Barracks. It had been about an hour since Minari had shown up at her quarters with a bundle of firelizard eggs. She had been mightily surprised that a mere Candidate had bested the likes of her children's riders. Perhaps none of them had been worthy enough for her babies, Phaelith thought with a decisive snort.
"Oh, stop, you. Ask the Weyrlings. It was their idea to go looking for eggs in the first place. It seemed like Minari just tagged along," Norali told her dragon, looking up from the paperwork she'd been doing.
Perhaps I shall, She snapped and rose her head off her ledge. Sorlith! Tell me that you were successful on your hunt! Have you got firelizard eggs? A Candidate was able to secure nine! What have you got?

Vari looked surprised when Kosarth and Senra showed up. "Hello there! How are you?" Sorlith turned quickly, almost protective of the eggs when Kosarth mentioned them. You may look, but don't hurt them! Then a ruckus started behind the Titanium weyrling, the eggs ending up overturned in the basket. Sorlith was immediate in trying to find the other six eggs, nosing them from where they fell to close to the warm sand they came from. The first, or last egg, depending on the point of telling, broke open on contact, the egg Avarian had been holding seconds before. A tiny blue was revealed, which quickly launched itself into a collision with Vari's stomach, crying for food.
"Oh shards!" Vari curled her arms around the little lizard to keep him from falling. She then figured how to hold him there with one arm, using the other to fumble in her belt pouch for a scrap of meatroll that was sure to be there, squished from the adventure earlier but still there. She broke a piece off and carefully fed the creature. "Oh Faranth! I didn't expect that!" She cuddled the blue while feeding him, trying to comfort him. Looking around, she noticed the sand and egg mess, luckily none of the new eggs broke. Sorlith was still grouping the eggs together, examining them for cracks. "Senra, would to like to help me clean up this? I'll grab a broom and you get the eggs out of the way for me?" Vari transferred the small blue to her shoulder, hoping he had good enough balance for the time being for her to help clean this mess up.
Sorlith moved away from the eggs when Vari asked Senra to help them, and then received the message from Phaelith. Sorlith cocked her head, then replied. Yes, we found six. Vari was going to tell you but a firelizard egg she found before me hatched while she was putting the others in warm sand. I think some of the other Weyrlings found other eggs though. What do you want us to do with the eggs?

Senra nodded and carefully started to pick up the eggs. She didn't want to accidentally break any of them. Looking at the small eggs, she wondered if some of them would even hatch. She counted them all twice, and Kosarth counted them to, though he didn't seem to care if they were missing any or not. Senra wished he wouldn't mind firelizards so much.
That should be all of them Kosarth informed Sorlith. Senra moved a bit away from the sand, checking over the eggs to make sure they weren't about to fall. It would be sad to drop one of these eggs and kill the lizard inside.

Sorlith nodded at Kosarth, Six is all we found. Vari was nearly done sweeping the sand up too, and most of it was back into the basket. "You could put the eggs back in there now, I don't think the rest of the sand will hurt them by being on top of them. Thank you for helping, Senra." The last handful was settled in the basket then, and Vari smiled at Senra. The little blue was still clinging to her shoulder, surprisingly.

Well, they've found quite a bit. What shall we do with them? The gold asked in such a bored expression that Norali threw her an annoyed look.
"Tell them to place them in the Hatching Grounds along with the Clutch that Minari found. I hope they were Clutched around the same time. It'd be nice for as many people as possible to try to Impress one or two of the little creatures," Norali replied swiftly.
Phaelith rolled her eyes. What was so interesting about firelizards, anyways? Phaelith looked much more interesting than they.
Sorlith, tell your rider that she is to take them to the Hatching Grounds and group them with the firelizard Clutch already there. You may also inform any other finders of firelizards to do the same.

Sorlith suddenly looked a little downcast at Phaelith's orders. She wanted to keep the eggs! But they would be better off in the warm sands of the hatching ground. Mine, we are to take the eggs to the hatching sands. They will be okay there, right? Vari had just put the sand on top of the eggs, and she sighed. "Looks like we don't get to keep them. The Weyrwoman wants us to take them to the sands." Vari told Senra. She sighed again, and the little blue crooned in her ear to try to comfort her. Vari absently petted the firelizard, then took up the basket and left for the sands. Sorlith was not about to let her go alone, so she was hot on Vari's heels.
