Rumors had it that a gold firelizard had been spotted mating just a few sevendays before Phaelith's Clutch had so outrageously Hatched. Rumors had it that a dragonrider or two had seen a gold firelizard hustling and bustling down the beach, as though looking for the perfect place to lay her Eggs. Rumor had it that the gossipers were all liars.
Still, truth be told, rumors were interesting. Rumors provided hope. Rumors provided an escape from the droll and hard work that the nearly month old Weyrlings had become used to. Today was finally the rest day. Today would be the perfect day to hunt for a clutch of firelizard Eggs. The Weyrlings, for it would only be Weyrlings who would have the audacity to hope that it would be they who found such a treasure as firelizards Eggs, were to meet at the bottom ridge of the beachfront. They would assemble as quickly as their dragonets were fed and put to sleep. If there were some who did not prefer to nap after their first meal of the day, then they would be invited along.
The Weyrlings had decided that they would search all day until they found their prize or died trying. With so many little alcoves and small caves lurking on the Southern Weyr's beach, there was bound to be a Clutch of Eggs.
If there was not, the Weyrlings certainly be the ones to admit that they were tricked into believing that there was a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

Zalanth raced along the beach, bounding around in the sand and pausing every few seconds to let his rider catch up. The blue was adorably clumsy, tripping over himself as he ran and tumbling head-over-tail. Shula laughed and helped him back to his feet when he tripped again. "I really hope we find some eggs!" She exclaimed. Zalanth seemed just as enthusiastic about finding eggs, which she was happy about.
Look in here! Zalanth cried, poking his nose into a juncture between two boulders. Shula tugged him back, worried there might be a tunnel snake there. Then she bent down and peered inside, wondering if anything was hiding.

Trogdorth was more than happy to romp around outside with his rider. He knew what firelizards meant. They were cute little, not dragon but like dragon, creatures. N'lel enjoyed the walk too. There so many places to look, though! Trogdorth didn't seem to mind. He peeked everywhere, then romped ahead. You might miss something if you go to fast N'lel informed him. Trogdorth went back to his rider. Alright, we can recheck them all. he went back to the first alcove he saw, then kept going. Trogdorth continued to inform his rider there was nothing there.
N'lel just followed his dragon. Sure, he could join in the search, but there was no point if his dragon was going to check everywhere before he got there. Trogdorth, noticing this, went back to N'lel. He waited for N'lel to catch up before running off again. Do you think there might be something in here, N'lelMine? Trogdorth asked, stopping at one of various alcoves.

Vari and Sorlith sauntered out on the beach, side by side. They weren't really here for the fire lizard egg hunt, but they came to watch the others scramble around. Vari supposed that if they did find a clutch, she might grab one for herself, but then again, Vari was happy to have just Sorlith. None the less though, Vari would help the others look, a little. Sorlith warbled a greeting to Zalanth and Trogdorth, and continued to wander along the beachfront with Vari. They weren't really so much searching as the two were out for a walk. Vari didn't feel the need for a fire lizard since she had Sorlith.
Are we actually looking then, Vari-mine? If you don't want one... Why are we out here? Vari smiled, looking out at the water. "We are here to offer moral support, I think. I've got my hands full taking care of your lovely self, Sorlith. Besides, do you really want to share my attention?" I wouldn't mind, I think. But I do need a lot of care, don't I? Vari turned to look at her silver companion. "Yep, you will for a while yet, love." With that, the two continued their wander down the beach. Maybe they would be the lucky ones to stumble on such a treasure like a flitt clutch?

Minari trekked slowly across the beach caverns, watching the ground as she attempted not to stumble over rocks, and accidentally find herself squishing a fire lizard clutch. She had heard the rumours of there being a clutch around here, and she knew that the Weyrlings were going to go on a hunt, simply listening to the words being passed from one mouth to the other. It wasn’t hard to discover. Yet, she didn’t feel as though she had the right to go with them, thus she had left in the early morning, and decided to scamper through the caverns, knowing that there would be Weyrlings about later. She wasn’t going to race them for the eggs, honestly, she just wanted something to distract herself as she felt the faintest of sorrow at the fact that she didn’t impress, but her bonded hadn’t been in that clutch… If she even had one.
Covered from head to toe in dirt, the woman slowly crawled her through a small tunnel in the rocks, water flowing in her boots as her long fingers clung to the rocks to give her some balance. Once she was waist deep in water, and able to stand, she looked at the wall and sighed. Here was a good way to get her daily exercise. Rock climbing had never been her specialty. Slowly, placing one hand in front of the rest, she started to escalade the rocky wall.
Alcoves, here she came.

Shula and Zanlanth
It just so happens that there was something in the juncture between those two boulders. Terrifyingly at first, Shula would see what appeared to be a human skull. As soon as she backs out of the light she will see, and probably to her great relief, that there is definitely not a human skull stuck away there, but rather the very mutilated shell of a spider claw.
While she catches her breath and inspects into the crevice a little more, she'll notice that there appears to be a fallen tooth embedded inside of the spider claw. Looking at it and judging from her own dragonet, perhaps Shula can deduce that it is a firelizard tooth. If they're eating around here, then perhaps the Clutch, if there is indeed one, will be farther along the beach. Firelizards do not Clutch were they eat, after all.
N'lel and Trogdorth
The alcove that Trogdorth has found is extremely tall and wide enough for the both of them to snugly fit inside. However, the edges are jagged, as is the floor. Sand covers the ground entirely, but it looks like water has been trapped inside the little cove for quite some time as it is very stagnant. Because of this, the alcove is both humid and feels neither hot nor cold. The ground is shaped interestingly for the jagged edges form a shape perfect to house a Clutch of eggs.
Unfortunately, because of the water and the fact that the alcove can become rather cool, it is obvious that there is no firelizard Clutch here. Fortunately, there is another alcove less than a dragon length away that seems a little more promising than this one. However, from here it is impossible to tell for sure.
Avarian and Sorlith
As you both continue to walk down the beach, it is clear that there is an unusual bump in the sand up ahead. It cannot be a sand dune, as those are only found farther north up the beach. Avarian can probably guess, from the several Turns she's resided at Southern Weyr, that it is probably not a rock either. Because this 'bump' is out in direct sunlight, it is plausible that the firelizard mother might have laid her eggs right on the sand and buried them.
Of course, she cannot find out from her current position...
Minari
Just as Minari begins to pull herself up to her feet, something gives under her hands. A small rock, barely hanging onto its foundations breaks loose and she falls hard on her stomach. Once she begins to pick herself up, she will undoubtably notice the gooey stickiness covering her hands and forearms where she caught herself. As she inspects herself, she will see that she has done what she has feared the most: Crushed eggs.
Hopefully she will not panic, for if she doesn't, she will see that the crushed eggs under her body are not firelizard eggs. They cannot be: They are far too small and more round than oval. Hopefully, she will hear the painful hissing coming from under the rock and be able to identify that that what she crushed was a tunnel snake and her clutch of eggs. With this realization in mind, she will hopefully scurry away as quickly as possible, just in case the sire of the clutch and his croonies come a'runnin' to see what is going on. After all, a firelizard wouldn't want to lay her Clutch where tunnel snakes lay...

Minari was slowly making her way towards the higher Alcoves, taking care not to send herself diving into the rock ledge below. Finding a place that was wide enough to hold herself, she quickly started to pull herself up, feeling the strain upon her arms as she reached upwards, placing her feet upon the ledge below. She was steady. She felt safe. She only had a little bit more to go, and as she placed her hand upon a rock, and tossed herself upwards, placing all her weight upon her higher hand, she felt everything give way.
Swiftly she fell, panic envelopping her senses as her hands caught upon a few rocks, though her weight knocked many of them loose until she found herself in a pile of rocky rubble on her stomach, the wind crushed out of her lungs as she breathed heavily, gasping, forcing herself to swallow the pain and get back to her feet. It was upon shaky arms that she started to lift herself only to notice the goo sticking to her legs and arms, the vision of crushed eggs. Desperately she cursed under her breath as she fell into a seated position, leaning against the wall. What was she going to tell the Weyrlings? Good news! I found your eggs! Not so good news! They broke when I fell quite a few feet down from an alcove. That simply wasn’t going to work. Perhaps she wouldn’t have to tell them anything.
It was as she was contemplating that she heard the painful hissing sound, and quickly scurried to her feet and raced into the water, diving when she was deep enough to swim outwards. Tunnelsnakes. She knew that sound anywhere. A shudder rushed through her back as she quickly wiped the egg yolk off of her hands and arms before swimming a bit further down the beach, holding her bag somewhat filled with clothing, and sealed dried meat, not to mention her lunch. Luckily she had made sure to water proof everything! This was going to be a horrible mess once she was out on dry land.
Silently as she felt that she had gone out far enough, and beyond the reach of the Weyrlings, she swam, then walked, towards the land, sitting upon the edge of the water as she looked out into the distance, toes squirming in the waves. It was such a beautiful day. She only wanted to lay back, and relax. Slowly bringing herself to her feet, she walked upon the rocky sands, her eyes scanning in every which direction looking for places where fire-lizards could lay their eggs, and sometimes wandering towards the sky. Maybe, just maybe, she could find something…

Trogdorth was quite unhappy about not finding anything. N'lel noticed another, perhaps more promising, alcove. Look over there, Trogdorth N'lel suggested to his dragon. Trogdorth happily walked over to the other alcove. You should come over here, N'lelMine. If there is anything here, you will not get to see it. I am coming, just wait a little. N'lel went over to Trogdorth and went to look in the alcove. Trogdorth didn't want to get out of his way, but he did move a little bit so N'lel could see.

Minari
As you look upon the ground, you notice a...rather strange indention in the sand. A whole firelizard width of a semi-circle is sunken into the ground. The rest is raised as it should be, in a normal enviroment. In the sunken end, there appeared to be odd lumps sticking up against the smooth surface of the sand, though nothing actually protruded out. No matter how you look upon it, it is unclear whether the lumps are circular at all. Perhaps under this neat pile are only rocks. Perhaps not.
N'lel and Trogdorth
Inside the alcove was a strange sight indeed. A great shaddow was cast over the whole alcove, mostly caused by Trogdorth. From what N'lel can see, there is a rock jutting out over most of the alcove's floor. As you notice, the air in the cave actually gets warmer the lower you bend to the ground. And not just warm, but hot. Very hot. Perhaps the two of you have stumbled upon a hot spring! If you dig a little deeper under that rock, perhaps there could be something worthwhile hidden just out of sight!

Shula let out a little squeal as her eyes adjusted to the darkness and made out the shape of a skull. "Eee! Zalanth!" She jumped backwards, falling on her bum and nearly knocking over Zalanth. Mine! What's wrong? He scrambled out of her way, eyes whirling with concern.
"A skull!" She exclaimed, and took another look to prove it to herself. "Well...maybe it's not a human." Reaching in, she pulled out the bone. She had been shocked, but she wasn't squeamish enough to stop herself from investigating further. Frowning thoughtfully, she tugged the tooth loose.
"Hey Zal, open your mouth," she told the blue, and he obediently did so. She held the tooth up and compared, and realized it probably belonged to a flitt. "I think we're on the right track, but let's go further down," she suggested, and the pair ran down the beach.

"It's warmer in here, Trogdorth. What do you think?" N'lel asked. He could feel the heat from the ground of the cave. "Maybe a hot spring or something?" Perhaps. Let us find out! Trogdorth excitedly started to dig at the rock. N'lel wasn't sure what to think of this, but he was curious.

Softly she strolled through the sand, watching the sky, waiting for a sign, for anything. Meandering forward, she allowed the faintest of sighs to escape her lips as thoughts of doubt traveled through her mind, causing her to shake her head. Why had she walked out today when she knew that it had been a Weyrling Event? She was probably some sort of masochist… She deliberately walked into a place where she knew sights of her failure would be littered all over her line of view. It was why she had crawled into that small grotto, why she had escalated the alcoves, and why she wasn’t turning around to go back home. The Weyrlings were there, with her dragon, and she wasn’t really a part of them.
Even as those dark thoughts filtered through her mind, she felt the sun upon her pale skin, soothing her as she sighed again, this time in faint resignation. So she hadn’t impressed. Big Deal. She was on a nice walk, enjoying the sunlight, and there was sand between her toes, and water splashing upon her ankles. The day was beautiful. She was 19, if another clutch happened soon, she could still impress. See. Hopeful chances. Her bonded hadn’t been in the clutch… Another hopeful chance. And there was sun, and water… And everyone was going to be okay.
Taking in a deep breath, Minari allowed herself to simply throw away her worries and watched as the water swept them away. She was old enough to know that she shouldn’t hold grudges against people about things that she couldn’t control. With that liberation, she started to run through the sand, closing her eyes as the wind swept through her hair, cleansing her being.
It was while she was running that she noticed the odd semi-circle that was sunken into the ground, that was about a fire lizard length in width. She slowed as her eyes narrowed, sharpening her sight upon what rested before her eyes. She could see the odd lumps sticking up against the smooth surface of the sand, and even through nothing really stuck out from the mound of sand, she felt curiosity pick her interest as she edged forward, walking hesitantly, eyes scanning the air to see if there was a mother fire lizard anywhere near her. The closer she got, the more distinct the lumps because. There was no way of denying it, there was something beneath the sand, and whether it was rocks or not, she had to find it.
Nearing the sunken sand, she slowly brought herself to her knees as she looked at the nest-like formation for a moment, pondering whether to disturb it or not… Without seeing the mother, who knew how these eggs were going to survive… If they were eggs that is. She wasn’t going to get her hopes up a second time in two days. Gently her hands touched the sand, and started to brush the sand away…
{{And thus, Minari impresses to a Rock! YAY!}}

Vari's pale keen eyes took in the mound of sand on the beach, just at the moment Sorlith's did. Is that what we're looking for, Varimine? Slowly, Vari nodded. "It very well could be, Sorlith. Shall we go see if this is it? We'll need to dig I suppose if eggs aren't visible." Well than let's go! Then, startlingly, Sorlith bounded off towards the sand pile, only stopping a foot away, then looking back to see if Avarian was coming or not. The whole action startled a laugh out of Vari, and she followed her sweet-natured dragon to the sand pile. Vari looked at the pile closely, wishing she had the egg that she'd found before the hatching. She couldn't tell if that thing was getting close or not! She'd been keeping it in warm sands, like someone had suggested. Anyway, with a sigh, she returned her attention to the pile. Sorlith followed her around, and eventually just went to the pile and started to dig, very carefully. Some instinct in the dragoness told her that she didn't want to harm the eggs, so gently was needed. Soon, Vari joined her, excavating with her hands. Both kept an eye out for the eggs they hoped would be in there. Of course, they'd probably feel them before they'd see one!

Shula and Zalanth
From up above Zalanth, an outraged screech of defiance rang loud and raging. A flash of bronze! A flurry of gold! Firelizards! Real, live firelizards! Both of them bugled warnings to the Weyrling pair and swooped in unison over the blue and his rider's head, talons reaching for their heads. The gold spiraled up and around, beating her wings in the young blue's face, trying to scare him into running away.
Her mate was doing his part as well to fend off the equally large adversary, Shula. Swooping around and around in such a close proximity, Shula might believe that there is actually more than one gold attempting to attack her and...perhaps there is. Another gold! Another bronze! More and more firelizards were around to protect and fight for what was theirs! By now, bronze and blue and green and brown and gold! So many firelizards. Perhaps this whole span of beach housed a huge population of the unseen mythical creatures! But..was there a Clutch of firelizard eggs around - or are these flitters just overly territorial? But perhaps you shouldn't try to find out, lest you get your eyes gouged out!
N'lel and Trogdorth
Dig, dig, dig away! It wasn't long before his hand bumped into a very warm something. It was smooth and round for the most part, although the sand it was covered with gave the object a rather grainy texture. N'lel's hands inadvertently press up against more and more roundish objects. However with the rock in the way, it is impossible to see what the buried objects N'lel has found are. Luckily, Trogdorth is in the perfect position to see just what N'lel unearthed - literally. Eggs! They are Eggs! But...not too many of them, though all of them are rather large. All in all, Trogdorth can see at seven eggs buried in this little hidey-hole.
Minari
As she quickly unburied and unburied and unburied, Minari notices that those round objects aren't hard and bumpy like most rocks are. No, they're smooth, strangely smooth. Too smooth to be something naturally found on the beach. There were lots and lots of them! Luckily for Minari's hands...and patience, the small mound wasn't buried very deeply at all. In fact, it took only a couple of pushes aside to uncover the little cache of treasure.
All in all, Minari discovered not just one or two little eggs - and yes! She has found EGGS! - but an amazing grand total of nine. They are all different shapes and sizes with at least three very large eggs. What a find! What a find!
Vari and Sorlith
The gentle pawing of dragon paws and human hands was sufficient to shift the topmost layer of sand off of the mound. It shrunk in size with every passing swipe of paw and cup of hand, growing smaller and smaller and deeper and deeper. Finally, it seemed like there was nothing in the mound at all except for bits of odd, warm seaweed and broken pieces of shells.
But, as dragon talons caught in soft sand, they scraped gently against something that just wasn't...sand. Or seashell. Or seaweed. Vari must see something by now, as well and as the pair worked the rest of the sand aside, she sees that her hopes aren't to be dashed today! In the small little pile just to the side of the big hole, the Weyrling pair can make out the sides of eggs!
These small little eggs number at a solid six, although each are rather small. Two are so tiny that it is doubtful that they will Hatch. Perhaps this is but a green clutch....but only time will tell.

Look N'lelMine! Look! Eggs! Trogdorth said excitedly. There are eggs. Maybe a Green clutch, though they are rather big. It could be a Gold clutch! Trogdorth liked that idea. N'lel wondered how many there were. Trogdorth counted seven eggs, but there could be more. N'lel wasn't sure, but he didn't want to disturb the eggs. If the mother wasn't there, maybe it was a Green clutch.
Trogdorth said he didn't want to find a Green clutch. He wanted to find a Gold clutch. You can't chose what you find Trogdorth. It could be somewhere else. You never really know. When the eggs hatch, we will probably find out. Maybe, N"lelMine, but Green clutches aren't that interesting. A Gold clutch would be nicer. Imagine an Obsidian firelizard around!
Forget Obsidian. Imagine a White one! It would be in complete contrast to you. Trogdorth, however, was already thinking of his own rampant ideas. A Gold one! And a Bronze! Every color! They could fly after each other! Then when the Gold rose there could be even more! You're getting carried away. Slow down, Trogdorth, it isn't going to happen. We don't need 10 firelizards. One or two would be fine, maybe three or four, but not as many as you're thinking of.
Trogdorth agreed, though he still seemed unhappy at not having every lizard in this clutch and all the other ones following him around. There would annoy you. Besides, we'd be lucky to get some. There are plenty of people that will come stampeding down here and want a firelizard. There aren't enough. Trogdorth was unhappy with this. He looked over the eggs. Maybe there are more than seven, it is hard to tell, N'lelMine.

Vari paused after revealing the eggs, Sorlith too. Vari examined each of them, noticing the lack of a protector. This was probably a green clutch then, she thought. Two of the eggs were very small, small enough even for a fire lizard egg that they might not hatch. Still, Vari figured that she would take them all, the eggs stood a better chance of surviving in the sands she had warming in her room with the other egg she'd found that out here alone. So Vari gathered them up in her hands, having to put two in her belt pouch to keep them safe on the trip back to her room.
Are we keeping them all? How many do we need? Sorlith inquired, walking beside Avarian. "Prolly not love. I have enough work taking care of you! I think we only will want two or three, and that leaves at least two to give out. I'm not sure I'd give these tiny ones away, I doubt they'd hatch, but if they do, I won't turn them away either. What do you think?" I like that plan, and let's keep the little ones. I like them, they need us. Vari smiled at Sorlith, then down at the two tiny eggs in her hand. "I suppose they will, Sorlith-of-mine." By then, the two had arrived at the Weyrling Barracks, and Vari wondered who would like two of the eggs... Maybe her roommate?

Her hands raked against the sand, fingers swiftly but gently brushing away the sand as she looked frantically towards the sky, wondering if anything was going to come out and attack her. Annoying locks fell into her face as she turned her head and focused her amber eyes upon the sand. It was then that she felt her fingers brush against something smooth, and soft. Faster she worked, moving the sand away from one of the molds as she stared at a fire lizard egg. A large Fire Lizard egg.
Her eyes widened as she continued to dig at the sand, taking out the eggs one by one as she stared at the different shapes and sizes in amazement. When she was done, what lied before her were 9 fire lizard eggs. She couldn’t believe her eyes, and by the size of them, they had to be Gold eggs, right?
With a certain skip in her step she swiftly opened her bag and started to rearrange everything to not bring harm to the eggs. Traveling with them was going to be tough, and she knew that she would have a long walk back to the Weyr. But, the day was still young, and she was quite the happy camper as she settled the backpack on her shoulders after securing the eggs inside.
It was with a smile that she started to make her way back towards the Weyr.

Give up on it Trogdorth. I know you want to find 50 firelizard eggs, but it isn't going to happen N'lel told the dragon, who was still staring expectantly at the eggs, as though waiting for them to magically multiply. Trogdorth agreed quite unhappily with this. N'lel bent down to carefully grab up all seven of the eggs. Trogdorth trotted along happily as they started back to the Weyr. He kept craning his head to make sure there were still seven eggs. N'lel found this quite annoying after a while, but it wasn't impairing him. Trogdorth was just to excited.
Trogdorth kept up little theories about what was in the eggs the whole walk. He was definitely expecting to much out of the eggs. Yes, there were seven of them and they were all quite large, but it was probably just the clutch of a rather large Green lizard. After all, the clutch was buried, and there were no lizards near by, nor any signs of lizards that N'lel had seen or recognized.

Thanks, Vesh. Thanks a lot. Now we're well and truly late!
Veshrelith stared up at His, and drew himself up to his full height - which was already a bit bigger than T'ly. It's your own fault. If you want us to go about looking for some silly flitts, then we must at least look good while doing it. If you knew how to wash and oil me properly, not to mention clean yourself, we could have gone by now! T'ly stuck his tongue out childishly at his bronze. Apparently Impressing one of these creatures wasn't quite all it was cracked up to be. Not only was Veshrelith already bigger than him, he was never satisfied with what T'ly did to clean him. Why had Faranth deemed it so fitting to give him such a vain dragonet? Clearly the First Dragon had a sense of humor.
Whatever, Vesh. You're never satisfied. Can we go now? Veshrelith looked his rider up and down once more. He'd bade his rider wash himself, brush his hair, and put on clean clothes before they had a chance of leaving...though T'ly had drawn the line at wearing Veshrelith-colored anything. He was not going to spend all his marks on dying a bit of clothing to make his dragonet happy. No way. Not to mention the bronze had also made His wash every inch of his hide, oil him and feed him - the bronze ate like a full-grown Queen, for Faranth's sake! Fine. But don't expect me to get dirty for your little eggs, he warned his rider as they finally stepped out of the Weyrling Barracks. Other weyrlings had been coming and going for a near candlemark, and T'ly had had to spend the whole time making sure he didn't have dirt on his boots. Shards.
I still don't see why you want any of those little irritants. You have me. What more could you possibly want? Besides, all they do is pester. T'ly glanced at his bronze, loping beside him and looking calmly disdainful. Talkative aren't you? he commented to his bronze not for the first time. And if you don't like it, you don't have to come. Vshrelith snorted. And leave you to bring home a dozen of the things? I think not, T'ly. Tl'y only aimed a kick at the bronze playfully. For all their arguments, they loved each other. And besides, Veshrelith was as good a manipulator and trickster as T'ly.
The diminutive weyrling let his thoughts drift away from his dragonet, focusing instead on seeing if he could find a flitt for himself. Or more than one. The Masterharper Menolly had Impressed nine! If he could only get one or two, he'd be satisfied. To have one all of his own...besides, it would annoy the shards out of Veshrelith, which would amuse T'ly greatly. He'd love to have a little devil of his own. And he had to wonder: would they remain the original five colors? Or would there be new colors like with the dragons? Would there be Titaniums and Ambers and Obsidians, or just bronzes and blues and greens and the like? It would satisfy T'ly to no end to end up with a new color, though of course any would be great. As long as he Impressed one that wasn't as snippy as Veshrelith it'd be fine.
By the time they got to the beach, there were scores of Weyrlings and dragons out and about, hunting for firelizard eggs. And - by Faranth! It looked like they'd found them! And T'ly's eyes widened as he saw the spectacle occurring above - firelizards! Actual firelizards! Golds and bronzes and blues and everything! T'ly stared, amazed. Wow! Wait till he told Teriesa he'd seen a whole fair of firelizards! But...then a daunting thought occurred to him: where they protecting the eggs? Would this mean he had no chance to hunt, lest the outraged gold and her cronies attacked him? If any of them come near us, I will eat them myself, Veshrelith declared, narrowing his faceted eyes at the flitters. T'ly grinned. This was the good thing about having a giant bronze: he didn't have to worry about anyone messing with him, firelizard or person. Besides...he was a fast runner.
Yes, he could still hunt for some...provided there were any left after all the pilfering the others had done. He looked around, disheartened, as people started to leave with their eggs. Well...so what? He'd still look. He'd find all that they'd missed, and with no more competition! Determinedly, T'ly ran towards the first good hiding place for eggs he saw - a cluster of rocks half-buried in sand, with the look of a possible hollow beneath. It looked like a good place for flitt eggs to be hidden. He dashed towards it, and started the sand away with his hands. After a glare at Veshrelith and a promise of an extra oiling if he helped, the bronze loped over and dug much more successfully with his claws.
((OOC: Bleh....sorry for massively late fail))

Zalanth gave a babylike roar and swatted at the flitt as she hovered in front of his face. He was more scared than angry, and he wanted to protect his rider. Shula was screaming, crouched down with her arms over her face. Shula, run! They don't want us here! Zalanth cried, trying in vain to shoo the flitts away from Shula.
No, Zal, they might be guarding a clutch! Shula said stupidly. Partly, she was just too terrified to move, but she really did want to try and wait it out in case there was a motherlode of eggs here.
Fortunately, Zalanth decided to take things into his own paws. Heeelp! We are being attacked! Someone help!
