Character Info
Name: Aldril
Rank: Candidate
Age: 18
Gender: male
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Appearance: Aldril is a fairly handsome young man. He is medium height, standing at 5'11. He is very thin, and for years he has been called a "bean pole." As he moves into adulthood, however, his build is become more lithe and limber than simply skinny. His movements are graceful, rather than clumsy and gawky. He has refined, slender features, with refined cheekbones and a delicate nose; some would call him a "pretty boy." His complexion is naturally medium, but he tans easily enough, and he usually has a faint golden tan. His hair is a light shade of blonde-brown which looks more blonde if he has been out in the sun for a long time. He has dark brown eyes.
Personality: Aldril is just generally a nice person. He is a very sweet guy and most people find him charming. He is friendly to everyone and tries not to let his first impressions stop him from getting to know a person. He is polite and courteous towards others, and you will rarely hear him say a bad word about anyone out loud. He likes to say that his mother raised him right. He is especially polite towards young women, and he follows an old fashioned kind of chivalry, opening doors and pulling out chairs for ladies, and he doesn't understand at all when they find this offending.
He is a very composed person and he rarely loses his temper. He is a rock in a crisis, somehow managing to stay calm even when chaos is breaking loose all around him. Some people find his unflappable nature infuriating in itself, and try to provoke him into losing his temper. It rarely works, and he'll usually walk away before he gets angry.
That isn't to say that Aldril doesn't ever feel angry or upset, he has just trained himself not to show it. Taking care of his younger siblings has given him a great sense of responsibility, and that has led him to believe that making a scene about your feelings is not going to get you anywhere.
In addition to being very composed, Aldril is also quite laid back. He tries not to worry too much about the future, and he prefers to let things take their natural course rather than trying to control the situation. At his heart he is an optimist, and believes that things will work out for the better.
An odd fact about Aldril is that he is claustrophobic. He is terrified of small spaces. His worst fear is being trapped in a closet. He also gets nervous if he is crushed in a large crowd of people. If he ends up in a small or cramped space, he usually starts hyperventilating, and he must escape immediately or risk having a panic attack. Not exactly an advantage in any case, but not something he should have to worry about as a potential rider--not with the open sky ahead of him!
History: Aldril was born and raised in Nerat Hold, the son of a runnerbeast trainer, Adriol, and his wife, Riliana. His first few years of childhood were very normal and happy. His parents were loving and took good care of him, and he had plenty of friends around the Hold to play with. The only problem was his claustrophobia, which began at a young age. He would panic if he was in a tight space, and his friends and family had to come rescue him from such situations many times.
His mother had four more children in rather quick succession after Aldril was born. Aldril was closest with his younger sister, Ardalia. He was also very close with his cousin Liastan, who was a turn older than he was. The three of them became fast friends and got into all sorts of trouble around the Hold.
When he was young, his father was killed. Despite the fact that he was still a child, Aldril became the "man of family." He always had a lot of pressure on him to be responsible and he had to help take care of his younger siblings. He didn't mind the responsibilities but it caused him to grow up fast.
After the asteroids hit, the family had to relocate. Aldril was just grateful that no one was killed or seriously injured. He had a surprise waiting for him in Southern. He was Searched soon after his arrival. Aldril was hesitant to leave the family, but they all encouraged him to go become a candidate.
Name: Aphelith
Type: Dragon
Color: Titanium
Age: Hatchling
Egg Mardi Gras
Genealogy: Phaelith x Niketh
Appearance:
Aphelith looks like he was molded out of pure, bright silver. Slightly smaller than his sister, he is obviously male despite how lean he is. While she was built more for endurance, Aphelith is more about speed and agility. For something so big, it is hard to imagine him quick and nimble, but he is. He’s very fast and can easily out maneuver any bronze in the air. He might not have the turning capability of a smaller dragon, but he’s just as fast as any. His body seems to be completely designed for speed, as all of his limbs seem to be quite smaller and much more compact than other dragons in his size class. If anything, he’s designed more like a blue or green than something as large as a titanium.
Personality:
Polite and courteous, he acts as regal as his titanium sister acts. Being bigger than most bronzes, he acts like the king he sees himself as. He believes that he is ruler of all Pern and unlike his hardworking and loyal bronze Clutchbrother, Aphelith is self-centered and lives by the saying “a means to an end.” Every means justifies the end just so he can get his way. Slightly unconcerned with the feelings of others, he doesn’t really care what anyone else thinks, just so long as he is in control of any given situation. Like a true king, Aphelith doesn’t really lose his temper; in lo of anger, the titanium responds to those who have wronged him with brutal words and sharp orders. He knows his rank and is quite happy to put those around him in their place.
Quite like any male, he is concerned only with whose Flying, who’s about to Fly and who he can Catch. Thinking that he’s the only dragon good enough to do, well, anything, Aphelith makes a point to Chase any dragon that Rises, as he thinks he’s Faranth’s gift to all female dragon. Markleth confuses him, as he doesn’t get the runty brown’s fascination with males rather than females; the brown is the only dragon he stays away from. Well, he does stay away from Droloth, too, as he feels that the other brown is far too high and mighty for his own good.
