Character Info
Name: Senra
Rank: Weyrling
Age: 14 Turns
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Bisexual
Appearance: Senra has long, dark brown hair that goes down to her waist. She will spend a long amount of time grooming it, but refuses to cut it or tie it up. She likes her hair just the way it is, long and loose, and doesn’t want to change it until it gets to long. At night, her hair can be mistaken as black, but during the day it is quite obvious that her hair is brown in color, however dark and black-like it may be. Senra’s eyes are a light hazel color, in contrast with her hair color.
For whatever strange reason it may be, Senra is aglossal (def.: without a tongue, having no tongue), and was born so. She has never spoken a word in her life, nor as she ever tasted the food she eats. Eating is not a luxury for Senra, but a contest for survival. If she eats food wrong, she could end up choking herself and possibly dying. When she was younger, that was more of a problem, but now, Senra has very few qualms about eating. She hasn’t choked on anything in 2 Turns. Still, eating is ridiculous for her, and she doesn’t eat unless she’s actually hungry. Sometimes she uses her hands to eat, but usually she tilts her head to move the food to the other side of her mouth and chew with her other teeth. She yanks her head back to get the food down her throat, and ignores everyone who stares at her like she is crazy.
Clothing is not an issue much for Senra. She worries more about not being able to communicate something than what she wears. She will generally wear anything that fits her and is comfy, and doesn’t have a preference for any particular kind of clothing or footwear. She just wears everything that fits her and she feels comfy in. Personal hygiene, on the other hand, matters to Senra. She always likes to have a bath, if not every day, then every other day. She doesn’t like having tangled or greasy hair, so she spends a great deal of time washing and then brushing her hair. Sometimes things stand in her way, and if she has to, she will skip a bath for a day or so.
Personality: Despite the fact she can’t talk, Senra can communicate well enough. Body language is her main way of talking, and people that don’t understand that to well are going to have trouble getting anything out of her. Senra doesn’t like being pushed around, though she knows she has a place, and lives like such. She can sometimes have temper problems, usually having to do with her disability. She can be quite touchy on the subject of talking, and hates that fact that she can’t say a thing to anyone. She tries her best to communicate to other people, but some just can’t get what she is saying.
Senra has always expressed an interest in Impressing to small dragons that are seen as not as useful as others. She wants to stand out from others, but at the same time she doesn’t think she would want to Impress to something like a Gold dragon. She would rather Impress to something smaller, like a Green. If new colors of dragons popped up, she would love to Impress to them, but she knows that she can’t control what dragons she Impresses to. Senra can only wish one would choose her.
Senra is an independent person. She can work along side people, but she works best when she does something alone. She grew up learning to do things independently, and she doesn’t want to change that anytime soon. It is easier for Senra to think in a quiet environment when she doesn’t have to try to explain ideas to someone else she is working with. Group work is definitely not the thing Senra is best at. She doesn’t feel very comfortable surrounded by people, either.
History: Senra has had a tough life from the very start. She never knew her parents were, as they seem to have abandoned her when she was born. She grew up, instead, with a Journeyman Healer, Setlan, and his family. Setlan says that Ramenta, Senra’s foster mother, found her while she was taking a walk around the Hold. There was no one else around, and Ramenta decided to take the baby with her.
Senra grew up different from the other children. They were used to her and didn’t shy away from her, but their friends did, and Senra usually stayed by herself and did things alone. She learned to be more independent. Her life was always well, and she usually thought of herself as having a nice life, though it wasn’t the best it could be.
Setlan and Ramenta had two children when they found Senra. Setram was the oldest at 8 Turns. During her whole life, Setram had always been rather nice to Senra. She always liked the thought of having him as her foster older brother. Talra was 5 Turns, and was a good friend to Senra. She was always kind to Senra, and knew she didn’t like others thinking of her as disabled.
When Senra was 4 Turns, Ramenta had another child, who they named Anta. Senra thought of her as a cute and lovely baby. Senra did her best to take care of Anta though she was very young. Anta never fully understood Senra’s disability until she was older. Even then, she still never understood why Senra was born that way. Senra didn’t know either, and it didn’t bother her.
Senra learned of a large body from space that collided with Benden Weyr. This didn’t affect her, but she heard stories of how Pern was now one Weyr short. Senra didn’t’ believe everything she heard, as a lot of gossip is unreliable, but she knows the main factors of the story. Something collided with Benden Weyr and killed most of the people in it.
When she turned 14 Turns, dragonriders came to the Hold in Search. Senra couldn’t believe it when she got to go along with them, but she was very happy to do so. She said goodbye to her foster family, and set off to the Southern Weyr to stand at the hatching of the new clutch.
Name: Kosarth
Type: Dragon
Color: White
Age: Hatchling
Egg: Morning Sunrise
Genealogy: Phaelith x Niketh
Appearance:
Much unlike Pern’s very first white dragon, Ruth, Kosarth has far more mass to him. His body is not sleek and lithe, but slightly more muscular and bulky, which suits him just fine, as he will grow to be longer than Ruth. Estimating off of the first white dragon and Kosarth’s proportions, he’ll be just at 19 feet at full maturity, the size of a very small green. Unlike Ruth, and most dragons, Kosarth is extremely proportional. His legs are all about the same size, rare for a dragon, though seemingly in place with the rest of his body. His back legs are, naturally, far more muscled than his front, allowing him that critical initial take off burst off the ground. His wings are rather short, allowing him even more maneuverability in the air.
His coloring is perhaps not unusual for his hue, seemingly all white. Of course, depending on the intensity of the light around him, his shade does seem to vary. In bright light, Kosarth will appear greenish, blue or light brown. As it gets darker, his hide will look gold, bronze, or darker shades of brown, depending on how and where he is standing in regards to the light around him. Still, even these generalizations are not entirely correct, for at any time of the day he may be a great different amount of colors to a great different amount of people. His hide is rather sensitive and Senra will find that she will have to oil him more often than any of his Clutchmates.
Personality:
Independent and self sufficient, it doesn’t seem like Kosarth needs anyone or anything. Perhaps he doesn’t, for this dragon, like Ruth, appears to be asexual. It is doubtful that he will ever Chase or Rise. Some will, of course, argue that perhaps Kosarth isn’t a male, but a female, as he has bonded himself to a female. This is doubtful, as Kosarth does refer to himself as a ‘he’ and clearly knows the distinction between male and female. That being said, his mind voice, depending on his rider’s mood and the preferences she shows for those who she is romantically involved with, does change. Its pitch can and will shift from something masculine to what could be considered more feminine. Like Ruth, he seems to have an acute sense of when he is.
Aside from this small quirk, he is as independent and strong as his rider. While she might not be able to speak with words, he certainly can. Unique to him and him alone, Kosarth is not fatigued nor finds that touching the minds of others is distasteful. He seemed to have been perfectly constructed to gift his rider with the power of voice. In many ways, they are the exact same person, one merely in dragon form. Not to say that Kosarth doesn’t have his own ideas, because he does. Indeed, he is very vocal, much more so than the other dragons of his Clutch. Often, he’ll go out of his way to talk to people and introduce his rider to people just because he likes hearing the sound of his own voice. Unlike Ruth, Kosarth seems to completely and utterly detest firelizards. Hopefully his lifemate won’t chose to Impress to too many of them or there could very well be a bad problem.
