Character Info
Name: N'lel
Rank: Weyrling
Age: 17 Turns
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Appearance: N'lel has brown hair and light blue eyes. He doesn’t worry about his hair very much, and he doesn’t have very long bangs he needs to worry about. N'lel a scar on his left arm, but that’s about it. He doesn’t get hurt very often. N'lel is rather tall for his age.
N'lel tends to wear leather shoes most of the time. He doesn’t like wearing sandals, and he generally doesn’t. As for his clothes, he wears anything that will fit him and looks nice. He tends to wear the same kind of clothes year-round, whatever the weather may be.
Personality: N'lel can be shy sometimes, and he doesn’t always have a very optimistic look on things. He prefers to think about what is likely to happen rather than what will make everyone feel best. When everything seems to be at a loss, Nalel doesn’t want to have to think up something on his own.
Even though he wants a dragon, N'lel’s less-than-optimistic view on life makes him wonder if he is the right person to Impress. He wonders if any dragon would ever even look at him before turning to another person. His first hatching didn’t go very well, and he worries something similar will happen during his second.
The only thing N'lel has tried to be mostly optimistic on his Impressing, because he doubts a dragon wants to Impress to a Candidate that is communicating fear. To do as well as possible, N'lel figures he will swallow his fears and go to every hatching he can with the best mood he can.
Despite everything, N'lel is capable of taking care of himself, he just doesn’t like doing things alone. Not liking it doesn’t mean he isn’t capable to doing it. He can live off of plenty of things, but he would rather not have to.
N'lel likes being around others, but he doesn’t talk so much. He is quite shy, and usually only talks when he has something at least mildly important he wants to say, or when someone asks him a question. He doesn’t chat about nonsense things that much.
Memorizing things is not something N'lel is good at. You can tell him something, and he’ll probably forget it in another hour. He has to work hard to memorize important things. N'lel doesn’t always spend the time memorizing things, because he doesn’t like taking that much time out of his day.
N'lel doesn't show his feelings. He never really found how showing anger made something better, or how showing sorrow made something bad go away. He doesn't show his feelings anymore, and basically doesn't really have them, except inside of himself. Some people have questioned why he acts like that, but N'lel doesn't bother trying to explain it to people. Most of them still don't understand.
N'lel doesn't slack when it comes to doing things. He isn't usually lazy and doesn't like the thought of being reprimanded, so he always gets everything he needs to done. Sometimes he can be a little lazy and not get his work done completely properly, but he gets it done well enough for good approval on it.
History: N'lel's life started out well. His father was a Brownrider at Benden Weyr, and his mother worked in the Lower Caverns. He didn't have any siblings older or younger than him, and grew up as an only child. His life was always nice, and he loved living in the Weyr.
N'lel used to be a bright, happy child that loved the world and showed when he was unhappy or delighted. It all changed when his 4-year-old sister died. N'lel hated how other people looked at him when he showed the sorrow on his face. He resolved to not show it anymore, and he succeeded. He became what looked like an unmoving and uncaring figure on the outside, even if he was torn up on the inside.
Even though he wouldn't show it, N'lel was excited at the prospect of becoming a Candidate. He wanted to Impress a dragon and become a rider at Benden Weyr. He knew he would get to be a Candidate too, and it was just a matter of waiting. He was eventually recognized as a Candidate, even though there wasn't really a clutch to look forward to at the moment.
His bad luck just kept flowing. Before he stood at his first hatching, N'lel was out on a walk by himself when he saw something coming out of the sky. He didn't know what it was, but it landed smack on Benden Weyr, causing N'lel to fall right on a sharp rock. He limped around a bit on his hurt leg, trying to keep his head injury from bleeding to much. A greenrider saw him and went down to get him. The rider took him to Southern Weyr, where N'lel was treated and later became a Candidate for the upcoming clutch.
Name: Trogdorth
Type: Dragon
Color: Obsidian
Age: Hatchling
Egg: Cloudy Skies Egg
Genealogy: Paelith x Niketh
Appearance:
From out of the very last Egg comes one last surprise from this pivotal first Hatching at the Southern Weyr. Trogdorth isn't burly, nor lithe, but rests comfortably in between. His legs are strong and his wings are well proportioned. Rather shiny for an obsidian, Trogdorth lives up to his name, though his wings are a much lighter shade of black, tending more towards a dark gray than anything else. Larger than a blue, Trogdorth will grow to be roughly 32 feet in length.
Personality:
Like others of his color, Trogdorth is a very logical dragon. He has a unique sense of cause and effect that other dragons couldn’t begin to grasp. In a sense, he exemplifies those most valuable assets of obsidian dragons with none of the surly indifference to those around him. If anything, this is where Trogdorth differs from other obsidians. Like his rider, he prefers the company of others rather than the solitude that most other obsidians enjoy. He’s forever looking out for his friends and finds it rather difficult to make enemies, for he is neither brooding nor surly because of the type of mind he has. Perhaps because of his ability to understand that if one action happens, another will follow, Trogdorth has an extremely low tolerance for pain and will often refuse to put himself or his rider in positions where they can get hurt. Fighting Thread will be a touchy subject with this dragonet as he acutely understands the dangers of it and is actually afraid of Thread because it can hurt. Where there is danger, this obsidian will run for the hills, lest something come up and bite him on the nosie.
He is a rather emotional dragon, a major difference between himself and his rider. Trogdorth is more apt to over dramatics than under and this point could cause problems in their relationship in the future. While he might understand the logic behind actions of his fellows, Trogdorth is very quick to blow things out of proportion.
