Character Info
Name: Etriso
Rank: Candidate
Age: 14
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Appearance:
Standing at 6'1" and weighing 160lbs, Etriso towers over many children and adults alike. His long limbs and straight form look frail, but he's surprisingly strong. However, even he doesn't realize this unless he's actually doing manual labor.
But besides his strength and height, everything about him is simple; from his dark complexion, and his cropped black hair to his chocolate brown orbs to his long face.
Along his arms are scars he acquired from the asteroid's radiation. One would think he'd be embarrass of these, but he wears them like battle scars. And so, his manner of attire consists of large short sleeved shirts and ragged slacks.
Personality:
What can be said about Etriso? With only the experience of farming, he's a very curious person. No stone will be left unturned until his curiosity is quenched. This often leaves him in a tight spot when he stumbles into places that weren't meant for his eyes. Still curiosity can't dispel this boy's naivety of the world, or his denseness. Believing a word is a person's bond, Etriso expects people to do as they say. But, when this doesn't come to pass, he's quick to point it out in hopes of them correcting themselves.
As far as his thick head goes, Etriso is immune to ill feelings, jokes, flirting....most things that are implied. In order to get something across to Etriso, one has to be blunt. But despite all that, he's very dedicated to his tasks. And he'll work hard to accomplish whatever is set before him.
Etriso isn't one to be discouraged or sadden easily, but when it happens, he sulks. He won't want to live let alone do anything appointed to him. But a little encouragement (Or abuse) is enough to get him going again.
History:
Etriso had a simple life. He and his younger brother were birthed by farmers in Benden. As farm children, their task was to assist their parents in their lifelong toil of vegetables. And these brothers worked with little complaint.
It was Etriso's brother dream to work the soil as their parents did. But what did Etriso want? He was nothing more than working hands. He didn't imagine he'd be anything more than this. But he did know what he didn't want to become, and that was a dragon rider. It wasn't a secret among the community that Etriso didn't agree with the riders, and one day a Brown rider happened to hear of this.
Frankly, he believed they were awarded more praise than necessary. They fought Thread every what-hundred years or so? And because of that one instance were thought to be heros. It wasn't a secret among the community that Etriso didn't agree with the riders, and one day a Brown rider happened to hear of this. So, he confronted the boy, and took him for a ride. Etriso enjoyed the trip, but he didn't understand why this rider was showing him the Pern below.
They eventually made their trek home, but during this journey he saw the unthinkable. His home, his family, everything was wiped out from an asteroid. Well, at least it seemed that way. When the dragonrider took a closer look, he saw that there were a few stragglers. They were the ones who were lucky enough to have avoided the blast.
Already other dragonriders came and set to work. They all took as many people as they could then went in between. The brown dragonrider went in between also to reach Fort Weyr-or what was left of it. It was in the same, if not worse state than Benden. But still there were people who were willing to survive. So, along with Etriso, he too scooped up people and went in between to Southern Weyr.
For a time the Southern Weyr were overrun with these people, but it didn't last long. Soon, they eventually began to die off-from what the healers couldn't say. The dragonriders who assisted those people perished also. And for the ones that didn't, were left a reminder whether it were scaring or dry coughing.
Etriso and the Brown dragonrider were one of the lucky ones. They were left nothing more than scarring. But after that situation, Etriso had new found appreciation for the Dragonriders and wanted to become. So, the Brownrider set him up with a Searchrider.
